We enjoy reading about the process behind a design, so we thought we’d share a

bit of the workflow of how we created the latest Batch Apparel designs. Enjoy.

When we first starting talking about creating a brand identity for craft beer

lovers we decided it was imperative to integrate the element of the batch.

As we considered different icons that represent craft beer, we liked the idea of

a logo that incorporated a crate of beers in a clean and modern design.

One thing you might notice about our logo is that the icon can be seen as simply

a batch of beers, or as three tap handles pouring beer through the negative space.

One thing you have to understand about craft beer lovers is that we’re always looking

for a new great brew to discover. When we find one, we’re going to talk your

ear off about it. That’s what makes craft beer such a social movement.

The phrase ‘Share Your Craft’ captures the conversation that is craft beer.

Below are some different layouts we considered for how the phrase should

interact with the Batch Apparel icon before arriving at the final design.

Beer is at it’s best when brewed, served, and of course consumed...locally.

Don’t get us wrong, we love enjoying great craft beers from all over the map.

But we also appreciate and support the brewmasters laboring along side us in our

neck of the woods. They pour their blood, sweat and tears into every batch.

So let’s raise a toast to our neighborhood brews: Here’s to great local beers

and the craftsmen who brew them. Drink it in!

For our initial Drink it in design we chose to highlight our backyard, Carolina.

If you live here, you know the craft beer scene is blowing up. In this graphic

it was natural to pair the Appalachian mountains with the iconic shape of a growler.

Below are a few iterations that our friend Nick designed, before arriving at the final graphic.
